First and foremost, I must apologize for the use of the phrase “Homosexual tendencies”  — it’s an abhorrent phrase from a less than civilized time in our history.I use the phrase only because it was often the reason that LGBT service-members were discharged from military service, or the reason that appeared on discharge or “military justice” paperwork.

Sometimes, the discharge expressly stated it was due to …. forgive me, again…. “homosexual tendencies”. Other times – and often depending on the era of service – the discharge was classified as a “bad conduct” or “conduct unbecoming” type discharge.

However it was classified, the LGBT Veteran who was discharged for being gay, bi or trans is often denied benefits.

Fortunately, there is something you can do.  Watch this video to get a quick introduction to the process you should research for fixing that discharge so you can qualify for VA Benefits.
